Biotensegrity posits that Kenneth Snelson’s and Buckminster Fuller’s architectural concept of "floating compression" or "tensegrity" applies to living systems from sub-cellular to whole-organism scale levels, and explains how biological structures develop by responding advantageously to physical forces.
